Minecraft Servers Announcement; Community Donations Plugin

It is with great pride that we announce the launching of our Dedicated Minecraft Servers to the general public! With this announcement comes the offering of several Minecraft products for the public to choose from, notably:

Along with each, comes the ability to easily make (up to heavy) modifications to the server and add as many plugins as your heart desires. Our gaming control panel, which is powered by Pterodactyl.io, allows for ease-of-customization along with any generalized modifications. You can also check on metrics as to how your server is being used, all without having to login to the game itself. Then there is the fact that with us, you can have your server entirely self-funded by the community at large!

Setup of a new account is a near instant, completely automated process and so too is the wiping/re-installation of a server if problems are encountered that cannot be easily reversed. Each user is further granted SFTP access so that they may easily upload files, whether they be map-packs, addons, MODs, or something else entirely that relates to the game. A MariaDB database is provided at an additional charge if a certain addon requires SQL access but otherwise, all of these controls are provided to you within the UI and are not in anyway an exhaustive list of all the features.

If you wish to change between differing types of Minecraft APIs , say from Minecraft Forge towards Bungeecord, then that is totally possible also without incurring any additional charges to your account. Our easy-to-use upgrades system makes this all possible through only a few clicks of your mouse via the Client Area!

Lastly, we have an excellent donations plugin for any community-run servers, regardless of the fact if you have a Minecraft server or not. The plugin is available to all accounts at GekkoFyre Networks upon signup.

With our donations feature, you don’t need to closely monitor your community gaming server with regard to billing charges and public interest being lost. Once the donations stop coming in or become a trickle of what they once were, we’ll disconnect your server for you, but only after some advanced warning.

As such, you can leave your server in the hands of the community at large and have it entirely self-funded! We’ll keep an eye on it for you and let you know of any major changes ahead of time to the best of our abilities.

Poll: What should we create for a community-run game server?

So! In our effort of continuing to provide charitable services to the furry, otherkin, and therian communities, we wish to start providing an entirely community-run game server to all the critters out there, free-of-charge and run-by-the-wildlife!

As a result of this, we invite you to vote in the poll just below (up to a three possible unique times!) and have your voice heard in this democratic process. We wish for everything to be done, performed, created, and maintained by the community-at-large as much as possible, since it is you that keeps the lights on at GekkoFyre Networks.

Your choice matters greatly within the poll and will decide the future of GekkoFyre Networks, but please, don’t allow that to cause fear from voting! We sincerely appreciate every vote made and need as many as possible to make the best decision attainable.

Lastly, it should be noted that the server in question will be located within Kansas, United States. The one we currently have is loaded up with tons of resources and a modern, Intel Xeon CPU. It can handle any modern video game that you throw at it, along with several more! We always make sure to choose dedicated, bare-metal servers at GekkoFyre Networks that will provide not only room for growth, but will also give a large buffer in terms of high-performance for our customers. Not only that, but they must also be rock-solid stable in how they perform, meaning that there’s very little downtime.

Be sure to share this blog article with your friends! Whether it is by a Twitter post, Mastodon RAWR/Toot, via Discord servers, a Telegram chat, or by some other means ^,==,^ More votes equals a better video-game dedicated server choice for everyone!

Release of Gaming Services at long last!

It’s true! We have officially launched our Gaming Services platform at long last! After months of all that waiting, delays, cancellations, and what not, we are finally here with an official release and an acquired, ready-to-go gaming server in Kansas, Missouri, that is all setup and tested. Down below on this page you may see screenshots of how our Pterodactyl.io powered gaming server appears after all those months of patiently waiting…

We would love to hear your opinion on the look and feel of this control panel within our Official GekkoFyre Networks Discord Server, so please, come join us and have a chat! The games that are available as of the moment include the following:

Further games will be coming shortly and we highly recommend that you subscribe to our newsletter to stay-in-the-loop! If there’s a game you would like to see yourself then feel free to make that recommendation to us. It should also be noted that while we might’ve said in the past that we were going to use XenoPanel as our primary gaming control panel of choice, we actually decided to severe our relationship with LiamSystems due to the owner of said company, Liam Denston, acting in a most unprofessional manner towards GekkoFyre Networks and our staff members. If you were hoping to use XenoPanel yourself then we do sincerely apologize.

Feuding with XenoPanel; Game Server Plans; cPanel & SSL

So it seems that after cPanel/WHM updated to the latest version as of 2-3 days ago, our entire primary domain (i.e. gekkofyre.io) came crumbling down due to its dependence on SSL working correctly and the fact that cPanel changed a few things around without proper notification. Thanks to the technical support provided by a single individual in our Discord server who wishes to remain unnamed, that is highly experienced with cPanel themselves, we were able to bring our servers back online though not without a great deal of time passing by. If you wish to see the chain-of-events that unfolded during this period then you may do so over at our brand new JIRA issue tracker.

We’ve had to put our gaming server plans on hold once again, for an indefinite period this time around, no thanks to XenoPanel and the un-professionalism of one Liam Denston who has led us in circles for what is now a period of months. We decided to terminate our relationship with them after seeing it for what it was in the end but not before they bled us dry of all the funds we had put aside for the gaming server plans. We have been repeatedly taunted, insulted and threatened by Liam even as we were making a chargeback against him, which you may see for yourself below.

That said, we will revisit plans for high performance game servers in the future, but right now we need all the funds we can garner after having wasted them on this fruitless endeavor.

Affiliate rewards increased; Full steam ahead with Pterodactyl.io; Greater data security

After some discussion it has now been agreed that affiliate rewards should be increased from the once measly 5% on kickbacks of every sale referred by yourself to a much greater 10% instead, effectively doubling what you earn. The previous reward amount just wasn’t garnering much interest from the community nor was it fulfilling its purpose too well, which was to reward members for taking a more active part in supporting GekkoFyre Networks. That said, we’d love to hear any and all comments on this change so please let us know what you think!

Due to the rather poor relationship that has almost always existed between GekkoFyre Networks and LiamSystems (i.e. owners of XenoPanel), we have decided to terminate any kind of relationship that we have had with LiamSystems effective immediately and will no longer be supporting their products in any capacity. While we do try not to ‘air our dirty laundry’ for all to see, the most that we can say on this topic is that you should look elsewhere as XenoPanel hasn’t been looked on kindly from a security perspective especially, so we definitely advise any newcomers before putting down the large amount of money required to license it. There are much better alternatives out there, such as Pterodactyl.io which we will now likely be supporting ourselves. We are using Multicraft also in tandem with that or another choice that has yet to be made.

Although I simply feel awful for making everyone wait weeks and even months for us to provide gaming services which are still yet to be delivered, because we were trying to make a shoddy product work to the best of our abilities. We have very high standards for the services and products we provide at GekkoFyre Networks, in terms of both quality and security, but hopefully now we can get somewhere and somewhat quickly at that. I offer my sincerest apologies for making you all wait.

In other news, we now offer better data integrity/security than ever before through the routine backups of your Virtual Private Servers, Zimbra Hosted Email, Shared Hosting, etc. As we now make use of no less than two S3-based storage providers for redundancy in all the backups we create along with our own dedicated backup server in Kansas, United States. This makes for at least three, geographically separate backup points. It should be noted that with some of the backups we create, depending on the type of system you are concerned with, the backup in question may be complimentary to other data redundancy processes going on at the time as we wish for all bases to be covered and if possible, multiple times at that.

Lastly, as an adjunct to the brief mention from before that we are now going to be using Multicraft in our new and upcoming gaming server product lineup, we are looking for individuals who are skilled with playing the game itself and perhaps with running a dedicated Minecraft server even. We require your help so that we may start offering these servers to the furry, otherkin and therian communities and perhaps, even a public server at that for any and all to use though we’d require someone with a bit of free time to administrate the server in question. You can checkout what Multicraft is and its feature-set by clicking here.

If you wish to offer your paw at helping us get this product/service lineup ready and out the door as soon as possible, please either make yourself known in our Official Discord Server, or use the Contact Form on our main website. Thank you!

Poll: Game Server Locations – United States and/or United Kingdom?

Because our video game services will be releasing soon, proper, we need to decide on the locations of where to invest in our first high performance game servers for this very purpose and determine if only a single location or even two is worthwhile. So please, cast your vote below and let us know if we are to start off with a single location in only either Kansas, United States, or London, United Kingdom. If we receive a fair amount of votes for both locations, then we’ll get servers for each!

Would a Patreon have been a better option?

  • Yes. (50%, 1 Votes)
  • No, this donation page is sufficient. (50%, 1 Votes)

We cannot stress enough how important this vote of yours is to us as you’re literally deciding the future of GekkoFyre Networks by casting your wish here. That said though, we do want this to be an eloquently fun thing to do, as we desire to be as transparent as possible when interacting with both current and future clients! It is you who make our existence possible.

Upgrading our Game Servers; new XenoPanel offerings coming soon

For the next week or so, GekkoFyre Networks will be temporarily suspending its Game Server offerings until we are able to provide a better and more streamlined control panel experience for both new and pre-existing clients. We are teaming up with XenoPanel which, alongside with our already pre-existing Pterodactyl.io offerings, will bring you more game-related server offerings than ever before! This includes servers for such games as:

XenoPanel comes with many features that allow you or a small-to-medium organization/clan to manage anywhere from a single to multiple servers all under the one account. This includes:

  • Powerful per-client API controls
  • Robust file manager
  • FTP access
  • DNS & MySQL manager
  • Support for sub-domains under your own second-level domain or one provided by us at GekkoFyre Networks
  • Sub-user management for your organization and/or clan
  • FastDL support integrated with Steam
  • Mod Manager / Install System built exclusively for Steam-based games
  • Console & Commands
  • Two-factor authentication for each (sub-)user
  • Regularly made backups as automatically undertaken by us at GekkoFyre Networks
  • Node & Server Monitoring plus Statistics
  • Player management through the control-panel itself
  • And so much more!

Pterodactyl.io shares many of the same features as mentioned above also. You can expect all this to arrive near to the date of 25th December, 2018, which is right near Christmas time! It’s our gift to all of you within the furry, otherkin and therian communities in order to celebrate Christmas so that you may have a rockin’ time throughout your holidays!

We may also be changing payment gateway providers soon with regards to Stripe, and making the switch to eWay. Although we offer servers and products in locations found across the globe (whilst accepting payments in USD) and our client-base consists almost entirely of international users, we are a business that is legally registered in Australia with the ABN #76382 705 985. Because of this, we find that partnering with eWay as a preferred payment gateway provider will be easier to do business with over Stripe since they too are headquartered in Australia. That said, we will still be offering PayPal as a payment option as well.

Lastly, we need to mention that we have a public TeamSpeak 3 server that is free-to-use by anyone, worldwide. It simply operates under the GekkoFyre Networks banner and is a simple source of advertising for us but otherwise, the server has an effectively unlimited number of user slots and there is a channel for each type of game server we (will) have on offer. The server can be accessed at the following URL below:
